Obituary for Johnie Campbell (Sexton)

Johnie (Sexton) Campbell – age 93 of Maynardville, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Physician’s Regional Medical Center. She was a lifelong member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Johnie is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Campbell; grandson, Brian Bowman; and her parents, Jack and Ama Sexton; sisters, Lorene Simmons and Edna Phillips; brothers, Charles “Cuz” Sexton, Bill Sexton and Reverend Joe Sexton. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Ray) Bowman; son, Tim (Lesia) Campbell; grandchildren, Grant (Ann) Bowman, Jonathan (Kristie) Bowman, granddaughter-in-law, Darla Bowman, Justin (Amy) Campbell, Jordan (Allison) Campbell; special great grandchildren, Chloe and Garrett Bowman; several nieces and nephews; and friend and caregiver, Dollie June Merritt.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017 in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will immediately follow at 8:00 p.m. with Reverend Fred Goodson and Reverend Bryan Cooke officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 a.m., Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Trinity Funeral Home to go in procession to Monroe Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment service. Pallbearers, Grant Bowman, Jonathan Bowman, Justin Campbell, Jordan Campbell, Ike Phillips and Reverend Kevin Sexton; Honorary Pallbearer, Garrett Bowman. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Christine Kiser, 162 Oakland Rd., Maynardville, Tennessee 37807 or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
