Obituary for Rev. Dewey George Raley Jr.

Rev. Dewey George Raley Jr.
Reverend Dewey George Raley – born July 16, 1924, passed away Thursday afternoon June 15, 2017 at Trinity Hills Senior Living with family by his side. Stephanie sang him into the arms of Jesus. A WWII U. S. Navy Veteran, he served aboard the USS Huse (DE-145) Atlantic Fleet and the USS Vulcan (AR-5) Pacific Fleet. After service to his country he enlisted into the service of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He pastored churches in Union, Grainger, Anderson, Knox and Loudon Counties. His greatest joy was spreading the Gospel. Our hearts ache, but we rejoice knowing our dad has seen the face of God.

He was the son of the late Dewey, Sr. and Gladys Raley. Preceded in death by his faithful wife, Addie Belle; daughters, Joan, Jane and Brenda Sue; brother, Gene; and sister, Opal Irick. Left to say proudly he was our father, son, Bob (Doris Ann); daughter, Faye (Glen) Travis; grandchildren, James, Kaye, Sonya, Tonya, Misty, Scott and Kelly; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brother, Paul. A special thank you to Trinity Hills for their loving care and support. To Dad’s church family – thank you for all your prayers and many visits that made his day brighter with love and laughter.

The body will lie in state from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m., Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Alder Springs Baptist Church, 708 Hickory Star Road, Maynardville, where he was a member. We will celebrate his life and his love for Jesus Christ with a funeral service to follow at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend Jimmy Davidson officiating. Interment will be in Beeler Cemetery with full Military Honors to be conducted by Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. Trinity Funeral Home, LLC, Maynardville, has the honor to serve the family of Reverend Raley. 865-992-5002 trinityfuneralhome.net.
