James O. Wright – age 93 of Corryton, joined our Heavenly Father on the evening of February 4, 2017 with his family by his side. Born January 16, 1924, James was a man of profound faith who loved to serve his church and community. He was also devoted to his family and loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His first grandchild couldn’t say grandpa and called him Tepo, which is a nickname he carried proudly for the remainder of his life. James exemplified the true meaning of work ethic which was evident by devoting over 40 years in management roles for various department stores. His career path allowed him to travel and live in many different areas of the United States. He eventually retired to Corryton, Tennessee where he strengthened his involvement in the church and enjoyed time with his family. Some of James’s favorite past times included dancing, listening to gospel music, and traveling. He was charismatic and always dressed to impress. He had a kind heart and will be missed by all those who were blessed to know him. James was a member of the Patriot War Act.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Wright; parents, Thomas and Sallie Wright; brothers, Emerson and Hayden Wright; sister, Byrd Parsons; son, Terry Turner; and great granddaughter, Evelyn Miller. James is survived by his wife, Betty Wright; daughters, Linda (Richard) Christie, Teresa Powers and Brenda Maples; sons, Richie (Pam) Turner and Les (Lori) Turner; daughters-in-law, Donna and Sharon Turner; sixteen grandchildren, Christina, Andy, Jeremiah, James, Jason, Rachel, Gary, Kenny, Jessica, Lori, Travis, Brad, Austin, Elijah, Jacob and Samuel; and fourteen great grandchildren, Wesley, Marley, Shane, Matthew, Elena, Lily, Sienna, Nolen, Hailey, Luke, Megan, Zach, Rylie, Kendyl and one addition expected in July.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 10, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service to immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Richie Turner officiating, eulogy by Linda Christie and scripture by Lori Turner. Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Friends and family will meet at 9:45 a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Clear Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Corryton for a 10:00 a.m. interment.
