Obituary for Floyd William Loy

Floyd William  Loy
Floyd W. Loy – 88 of Maynardville was born October 5, 1927, and passed away on February 20, 2016.
Floyd was a member of Miller’s Chapel United Methodist Church and a graduate of Horace Maynard High School Class of 1947. He was a former employee of the State of Tennessee Division of Forestry, Union County Superintendent of Roads from 1972-1980, and successfully operated the 100 year family farm, as well as being an avid gardener. He was an active contributor of the Annual Cox Wheat Threshing, served in various organizations including the Union County Ruritan Club, Union County Optimist Club, Board of Trustees of Miller’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Union County Soil Conservation Board, Union County Democrat Party, Union County Election Commission and a Board of Directors Member of Union County Bank. Floyd was a 50 year member of the J.C. Baker Lodge #720, a member of the Scottish Rite of FreeMasonary and a member of the Smokey Mountain Model A Club.
Floyd is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Edna Marie Gilbert Loy; mother, Stella Loy Clapp; father, James Loy; sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Leon Spitzer and brother-in-law, William P. Wright, Jr.
He is survived by children, Pearl L. Coffey and Earl J. Loy; beloved granddaughter, Amy Smith; sisters, Georgia Wright and Opal (James) Thompson; aunt, Estelle Loy; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. A Masonic Service to be conducted by J. C. Baker Lodge #720 to immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service to follow with Reverend Steve Ailor, Reverend Burney Hutchison, and Reverend Timothy Cox officiating. Family and friends will meet Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Funeral Home to proceed in procession to Beeler Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment service. Pallbearers, Junior Loy, Tim Cox, Jared Effler, James Sexton, Bill Collins, Chester Butler, Larry Ensley and Gary Hibben; Honorary Pallbearers, Members of the Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard, Members of the Smokey Mountain Model A Club, The Hardees Breakfast Club, Ray Malone, Earl Loy, Sr., Greg Garren, Dr. Fred Hurst, Gene Cook, Bill Coffey, Jake Butcher, Tony Stanley and Robert Loy. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to: Beeler Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 123, Maynardville, Tennessee 37807.
