Obituary for Robert L. "Red" Oaks

Oaks, Robert L. “Red” – age 86 of Ocala, Florida, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014. He was born in Maynardville, Tennessee on September 17, 1927. Red enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII. After his military service, Red found employment with the U.S. Postal Service where he retired. Red moved to Ocala from Maynardville in 1977. After retirement Red was a volunteer Postal Man to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. He was very involved with the Republican Party. He served as a State Committee Man, was Chairman of several campaigns and in general, loved to talk politics. He was a great supporter of Republican politics. He literally placed thousands of political signs around Marion County. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow. Interment will be in Beeler Cemetery on Hickory Valley Road with full military honors provided by Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County, Attn: Finance, 3231 SW 34th. Avenue, Ocala, Florida 34474 or the American Red Cross.
